We are looking to recruit a Principal Psychologist to provide leadership and specialist psychological provision to the adult community mental health teams in the Rhondda/Cynon/Taf area.
The successful candidate will join a diverse and passionate team of psychologists working across the community teams in CTM. The successful candidate will provide management, support and mentoring to junior colleagues within the team.
The CMHT psychology service is made up of clinical and counselling psychologists, CAAP and assistant psychologists. We have close links with both the clinical and counselling doctorate in South Wales and consistently have trainees on placement with us.
Job Summary
The post holder will be a senior clinical leader helping to provide timely, effective, modern, evidence based therapies delivered by a well trained and supervised multi-disciplinary workforce.
Responsibilities
* Provide highly specialist psychological services within an assigned community mental health team (CMHT)
* Develop suitable models for increasing the capacity within CMHTs to offer systematic stepped care to people with complex needs who require psychological treatment as part of their recovery plan
* Supervise the work of less experienced psychologists or other professions
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Doctoral, or equivalent, professional training in applied psychology
Knowledge
* Knowledge and experience of clinical supervision in order to support qualified and trainee staff with regard to psychological therapy
* Post qualification relevant specialist training
Experience
* Extensive experience of working as a qualified psychologist in roles involving complex clinical cases
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patients' psychological care and treatment, both as a co-ordinator of care and a therapist and within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan
Skills
* Experience of and a commitment to the evaluation of services, enthusiasm for both multi-professional and uni-professional audit, and a wish to continue to develop expertise in the service area
* Ability to demonstrate leadership and influencing skills
