<div><h3>Job Overview</h3><p>This is a pivotal, part time (0.7WTE) senior role leading the development and delivery of paediatric pharmacy services within BCUHB.</p><p>The Lead Paediatric Pharmacist will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure a high‑quality, innovative and patient‑centred service, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to support safe and effective care for children and young people.</p><p>The post holder will deliver expert pharmaceutical advice in paediatrics, lead on clinical governance, quality and safety, and drive service improvement in line with Health Board and NHS Wales priorities. A key focus will be enhancing clinical integration, developing the workforce, and embedding evidence‑based practice across paediatric services.</p><p>This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to shape services, influence system‑wide change and improve outcomes for children and their families.</p><p>Welsh language skills are desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.</p><h3>Main Duties</h3><p>The Lead Paediatric Pharmacist will provide strategic and operational leadership for paediatric pharmacy services across BCUHB, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and high‑quality medicines management for children and young people. The post holder will lead service development and transformation in line with Health Board and NHS Wales priorities, embedding best practice and driving measurable improvements in patient outcomes and experience.</p><p>Acting as the professional lead for paediatric medicines, the role will deliver expert clinical and pharmaceutical advice, supporting complex decision‑making and working closely with the multidisciplinary team to enhance integration across paediatric care pathways.</p><p>The post holder will lead on clinical governance, quality and medicines safety, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while promoting continuous improvement through audit, research and innovation. They will also play a key role in developing the workforce, fostering a culture of learning and professional excellence.</p><p>As a senior leader, the role will contribute to effective medicines optimisation and resource management, whilst representing pharmacy within key forums and influencing the wider strategic direction of paediatric services and Pharmacy and Medicines Management across the Health Board.</p><h3>Person Specification</h3><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Post‑graduate diploma/MSc in relevant pharmacy area or equivalent documented experience in relevant area</li><li>Registered pharmacist with GPhC</li><li>Masters Degree or equivalent in pharmacy</li></ul><h3>Desirable Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Management qualification or equivalent experience</li><li>Practicing member of RPS</li><li>Teaching/assessing qualification</li><li>Independent/supplementary prescriber</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><h3>Essential Experience</h3><ul><li>A substantive level of post‑qualification experience in primary care/secondary care.</li><li>Able to demonstrate a suitable level of experience in providing specialist pharmacy services</li><li>Responsibility for performance management within pharmacy</li><li>Experience of writing and implementing business plans</li></ul><h3>Desirable Experience</h3><ul><li>Experience with IT systems</li><li>Experience of pharmacy management within the NHS including responsibility for staff and budgetary control.</li><li>Experience of managing prescribing databases</li></ul><h3>Skills</h3><h3>Essential Skills</h3><ul><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Operational management experience</li></ul></div>
