Here at UPP we have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to work as part of our Oxford team in providing both a planned and responsive maintenance service.
This is a permanent full-time position working 37.5 hours per week 10.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday. The salary is £27,218 per annum.
Please note that a current manual driving licence is essential for this role. In addition, this role includes undertaking the heavy lifting and removal of student refuse (general, recycling and glass bottles). Most areas only have stair access, and the role therefore requires high levels of manual handling.
Role responsibilities as a Maintenance Assistant include:
* Move waste from local site bins to collections bins throughout the week which is essential to the site's recycling strategy.
* Carry out reactive maintenance in accordance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and provide front line response when jobs are raised on the Workplace Management System (Planon) utilising a portable electronic device to record job details
* Ensure that the environment is maintained in accordance with the SLA, including keeping the site clean and well maintained by monitoring plant rooms and common areas
* Assist with shower curtain exchanges and flushing of outlets as required and grounds maintenance work
* Provide reports (verbal/written and electronic) relating to compliance, maintenance tasks and condition checks
* Report any Health and Safety issues relating to the residence ensuring all information is passed to the relevant Manager(s) and take appropriate immediate actions to reduce risk
We are looking for you to have basic maintenance experience but more importantly, you will have a positive can-do attitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn, along with the passion to do a great job.

We'll support you with full training, including a Basic Electrical Maintenance Course and, for example, IPAF certification.
You will also have a good understanding of the operational procedures and safe working practices of building services and systems as well as good understanding of health and safety, with the ability always to work in a safe manner.
You will also be prepared to work (with notice) additional hours when needed, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends.
