We are seeking a talented and passionate individual to join our team as a teacher of Modern Foreign Languages from April 2026. This is a maternity cover post for one term. You will either be an experienced practitioner with excellent pedagogical knowledge and communication skills or have the potential to develop into such a practitioner. The ability to teach French at all key stages is essential. The MFL Department at Hitchin Girls’ School is a very special place to teach. We use the online courses on ActiveLearn as the basis for our teaching. Lessons have a fully blended approach with students using individual Chrome Books in the majority of lessons. We have French groups at all Key Stages of the curriculum. There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer including our Language Leaders programme, a Pen Pal exchange, KS4 Project Polyglot programme, Beginners’ Japanese club and a number of trips and visits. We are a collaborative team who willingly share resources and good practice in our meetings and MFL briefings. We are passionate about the teaching of languages and are proud of the varied and challenging curriculum that we offer to our students.
