Estimator
Our precision engineering industry client is seeking an experienced Estimator.
Working in the Machine Shop, this position works closely with the Purchasing, Production Control and Sales Order Processing teams. The Estimator is responsible for estimating, quoting and closing sub-contract machining and any metal finishing required.
What you will be doing:
* Receive and interpret customers’ requirements from CAD, technical specifications or computer models;
* Prepare detailed quotations, proposals and bids for sub-contract machining and metal finishing with support from the Purchasing and Machine shop personnel;
* Review costs, acceptable margins with Group Machine Shop Manager;
* Decide to bid or not bid on specific Requests For Quote;
* Support Production Control and Sales Order processing with new order input onto the ERP system ensuring all details and customer requirements are captured within the BOM structure;
* Support BDM with customer feedback regarding work in progress and delivery dates.
What we are looking for:
* A proven, competent Engineer, whether through apprenticeship, academic, or time served;
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in any one of: Engineering/Manufacturing/Estimating/Engineering Business Development.
* Familiar with CNC machining/manufacturing;
* Able to read CAD /engineering drawings;
* Software literate (Microsoft Office, social media) at user level;
* Dynamic, well organised, self-starter;
* Customer-focused approach and attitude – for both internal and external customers;
* Ability to manage prioritise own work load and work under pressure in a busy environment
