Working with a vision of “delivering excellence in all everything we do”, the post holder will be based at the Specialist Receiving Unit at the City Hospital.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly covering a 24-hour shift rotation.

The post holder will be required to:

1. Manage all aspects of patient flow and capacity across the Specialist Receiving Unit.
2. Work within the discharge lounge at City Hospital, ensuring a constant flow of patients into and out of the area, and that all patients are discharged safely and promptly.
3. Prioritize patient safety by facilitating seamless movement of patients throughout the Trust and onwards.
4. Effectively manage challenging flow and capacity issues, escalating to the Specialty Management Team or Directorate Leadership Team when necessary.

Key responsibilities include:

* Driving the delivery of NUH flow and capacity targets to improve service performance.
* Providing operational support and expertise to all service members.
* Collaborating with ward managers/leads to optimize flow and capacity.
* Developing and reviewing plans daily to meet patient access targets.
* Assessing impacts of service changes or expansions on resources and negotiating adjustments as needed.
* Managing changes to administrative systems like NerveCentre and Careflow.
* Contributing to service improvements at local and Trust levels.
* Handling complex, sensitive information to overcome objections and achieve the best patient outcomes.
* Working proactively with site operations and divisional on-call teams to respond to changing demands.
* Supporting timely patient flow from wards to TOCU to aid ED capacity.

Notable highlights include:

* Hosting the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre, Nottingham Children's Hospital, and a Biomedical Research Centre in partnership with the University of Nottingham.
* Being a teaching hospital involved in training healthcare professionals and maintaining strong university relationships.
* Undertaking extensive hospital redevelopment and service improvement plans, including a new rehabilitation facility.

The working hours are from 2pm to 10pm, 7 days a week.

Responsibilities include providing analysis of flow and capacity data, operational monitoring, preventing access breaches, understanding activity fluctuations, and developing improvement plans.
