Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to fill the position of Insect Rearing Technician. This role is essential in overseeing daily operations and ensuring the well-being of flies, while maintaining and increasing their population. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fly husbandry, knowledge of rearing and maintaining insects, as well as general insect maintenance, contributing to the overall success of our fly population.
Duties
* Oversee daily care, breeding, and monitoring of fly colonies.
* Maintain optimal environmental conditions to support healthy populations.
* Ensure strict biosecurity and hygiene standards to protect colony health.
* Monitor and record colony performance, growth rates, and productivity.
* Maintain and troubleshoot insect rearing equipment and housing systems.
* Implement sustainable practices in line with our research and production goals.
Skills
* Experience in insect rearing, entomology, animal husbandry, or related fields.
* Strong observational skills with the ability to detect changes in colony health.
* Ability to work effectively in warm, humid environments.
* Excellent record-keeping and attention to detail.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement

Pay: Up to £24,450.00 per year
