WSP are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Engineer to join the Roads team based in Truro.
The Truro Office is a fantastic space to grow your career, ideally situated on Cathedral Square, right in the heart of Truro. The Roads Team at the Truro office is involved in a broad range of exciting projects, both locally and nationally, including:
* strategic network improvements
* major and minor highway maintenance and asset renewals
* active travel
* public transport infrastructure
* road safety interventions
Our diverse work portfolio also involves exciting development infrastructure projects in various sectors such as defence, commercial and residential.
You’ll play a key support role within a high‑performing team, helping to coordinate and deliver highways projects efficiently for our clients. You’ll build your capability through hands‑on delivery across planning, design and construction stages.
You will:
* Develop engineering solutions for projects, or work packages of varying scale, complexity, value and project stages, and could be working across several projects at any given time.
* Be actively engaged, or responsible depending on experience, for ensuring your projects are delivered to budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements.
* Work collaboratively with clients, key stakeholders and internal disciplines.
* Support Project and Technical Delivery Leads in planning, programming, and pricing of proposals and deliverables.
* You will be supported by a team of experienced and developing technical staff of various grades, to whom you will be expected to provide guidance and support as appropriate.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
* A passion for design and developing innovative solutions, demonstrating initiative and ingenuity to solve engineering problems.
* A Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, or suitable equivalent.
* Working towards IEng or CEng with demonstrable progress.
* Knowledge and experience of highway and/or development Infrastructure design at various stages of the project life cycle. Specific experience in any, or all, of the following areas is advantageous: highway/road geometry, active travel, public transport, surface and foul water drainage, road restraint systems, pavements, traffic signs and road markings, and utilities.
* Knowledge of relevant design standards and codes of best practice such as the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, LTN 1/20, SuDS Manual, National Standards for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and Local Authority design guidance.
* Are well versed in the preparation of reports and drawings for transport studies, and or, construction projects.
* The ability to use or direct the use of relevant software for example Autodesk Civils 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage, Causeway and/or PDS.
* Experience of complying with Designers Duties under CDM regulations.
