Introduction
A Direct Payments recipient in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ an experienced female Personal Care Assistant to support a lady with MS. Support is needed on Friday/ Sunday. "Exemption is claimed under the Equalities Act 2010". The post is for 16 hours per week, to support the person to maintain daily living activities. Possibility of overtime. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable clients to manage their support and independently meet their care needs. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client.
The main duties to be included within this role are to:
PA to develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the person.
Build a good rapport with the person and communicate effectively
Support the person to carry out household tasks
Carry out all aspects of personal care such as showering and dressing.
Monitor skin integrity and apply cream as necessary
Use of mobility aids such as wheelchairs, and hoists.
Support the person with outings to nearby shops.
Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
To provide companionship in the employer's home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction
Ensuring the employer's safety at all times during your working hours
To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback on any concerns to the relevant authority
Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance
The client is looking for a Personal Assistant that fits the following person specification:
Responsible and honest
Proactive and self-motivated
Has good local knowledge
Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
Good communicator
Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship
Other Requirements
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
