How Independent Contracting Works
* You operate on a self‑employed basis, completing assessments on behalf of NSF.
* You are paid per audit, with travel expenses covered, where applicable.
* You share your availability, and visits are scheduled based on your location, experience, and scheme coverage.
* Work is offered on an ad hoc basis and can vary throughout the year depending on programme needs.
* It offers autonomy, flexibility, and the chance to shape your own workload.
Responsibilities
* Do food safety checks at client sites
* Train and coach staff while on‑site – we're compliance seekers not fault‑finders
* Write up inspection results and share with client managers
* Collect samples and send them to labs for testing
* Plan your inspections to meet deadlines
* Keep in touch with your team and client contacts
* Jump in on other tasks when needed
Qualifications
* Level 4 qualifications in Food Safety and Health & Safety
* A degree in Environmental Health (or similar), a big plus
* Able to carry out audits in Food, Health & Safety, and Fire
* Can train safety advisors if needed
* Being registered with CIEH or IOSH, a big plus
* Must have a full UK driving licence
* Ready and willing to travel
* Confident using Microsoft Office and our easy‑to‑use tools
