Clerk to the Governors
Severn Vale School is a single academy trust delivering inclusive secondary education for students aged 11‑16, prioritising strong student outcomes through high‑quality teaching and outstanding pastoral care.
The Clerk to the Governors is a key, part‑time, permanent role providing administrative, procedural and legislative support to ensure the board operates efficiently and in line with statutory requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chair of Governors and the Headteacher to plan meetings, prepare documents, record decisions accurately and offer guidance on governance compliance.
Responsibilities
• Coordinate 4 Full Governing Board meetings and 14 Committee meetings per year (usually on Mondays or Tuesdays at 5:00 pm).
• Prepare, circulate and manage meeting agendas, minutes and supporting documents.
• Maintain accurate records of board decisions and ensure compliance with legislation.
• Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the governing body.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have excellent administrative skills, be highly organised and methodical, and confident using IT systems. They should be able to work independently, communicate clearly with a strong written record, and maintain strict confidentiality. Knowledge or experience regarding school governance is desirable, though training will be provided.

Salary & Contract
Starting salary dependent on experience and remuneration for 3.75 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (0.0779 FTE). Interviews will be held on 11 December 2025.
