Job Description:
About us
DS Smith provides innovative packaging and Point of Sale solutions, paper products and recycling services with a commitment to sustainability and a circular economy. Our core purpose is to Redefine Packaging for a Changing World, and our expert teams work closely with like-minded partners to incorporate renewable resources for products that minimize our environmental impact, reduce complexity, and increase profitability through supply chain optimization.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and driven individual to join as a Business Development Manager for the UK Packaging Division to support the ambitious growth plans of the Ecommerce business. This is a key position within the business, so we are looking for ambitious, customer-focused individuals to be part of this fabulous team!
Working across the wider packaging teams and liaising with other Sales Managers, you will use your input and autonomy to transform the role in line with our growth strategy. This is a true Business Development role, with a small amount of account management supported by admin assistance.
As a strong sales professional and a natural ‘people-person’, you will thrive on networking with existing and potential customers to bring in new business. Your passion for design and innovation will help you build strong relationships with the Marketing, Design, and Innovation teams to evaluate new packaging designs aligned with customer needs. The role is home-based but involves traveling to meet customers and visiting our sites in London Paddington, Milton Keynes, and Solihull.
If you have experience as a Business Development Manager, possess the tenacity and entrepreneurial spirit to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are eager for a new challenge, we might be looking for you!
About you
* Proven success and experience in Business Development, preferably within FMCG; packaging experience is desirable but not essential.
* Experience working with E-commerce products is highly advantageous.
* A Full driving license.
* Ability to work independently and remotely, with willingness to travel.
* Strong business acumen and negotiation skills, capable of handling conflicts internally and externally.
* Motivated to meet sales targets.
* Experience with pipeline management and sales reporting.
* Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
* Capability to deliver professional and engaging presentations.
* Additional benefits include pension scheme, life assurance, income protection, Employee Assistance Programme, employee discounts, and cycle to work scheme.
Location: This is a full-time, home-based role with frequent travel to customers and offices in Milton Keynes, Paddington, and Solihull as needed.
