Ambulance Care Assistant (Relief) - Watford - Hertfordshire
Job Summary We are currently looking for enthusiastic and passionate Ambulance Care Assistants to transport patients, who are frail or need specialist assistance, to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centres and other similar facilities. If you have experience caring for people with excellent customer care and communication skills, we would like to hear from you. You will need to be flexible, adaptable, discreet and you should bring a sense of humour and local knowledge of the area you are applying to work in. Main duties The Ambulance Care Assistant transports non‑urgent patients to and from health/social care premises and private residences. This responsible role requires a professional and caring attitude, teamwork and usually involves working in a team of two or on your own in a variety of vehicle types.
Essential qualification A full UK manual car driving licence, with at least one year of driving experience (a maximum of 3 penalty points will be considered for a minor motoring offence). The role starts with a 3‑week paid training course (Monday – Friday). The training covers clinical skills to be a ‘First Person on Scene’ and patient transport driver training. You must be able to commit to this training.

Person Specification
* Essential:
o Full car driving licence (max 6 penalty points or licence clean if obtained within two years).
o Literate and numerate to Trust tested level.
o Experience working to deadlines and in time‑frames.
o Experience working with the public, demonstrating sound customer care skills.
o Experience working in a fast‑paced environment and ability to remain calm and professional.
o Awareness of Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.
* Desirable:
o C1 category licence.
o Maths and English GCSE grade C or above or equivalent.
o Advanced Driving certification.
o Knowledge of Patient Transport Services.
o Previous work in a caring profession.
o IT literate.
