An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist or Board Eligible Surgeon to join the fantastic team at Wear Referrals. The applicant would preferably be a European or American specialist (ECVS/ACVS) surgeon, we will also consider candidates who have completed an ECVS/ACVS accredited residency. Our department currently comprises 2 orthopaedic and 2 soft tissue specialists, including associates who also hold Examiner and Professor academic positions. We have two full time surgery residents, two surgical intern s and six rotating interns. The hospital employs Specialists in diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology, anaesthesia, oncology and we pride ourselves on a collaborative approach to investigations and care. We run European approved residency programmes in small animal surgery, neurology, internal medicine and oncology. The hospital is equipped to a very high standard and provides excellent inpatient facilities with qualified RVNs and veterinary interns on-site 24/7. Imaging includes computed radiography, fluoroscopy (C-arm with digital subtraction and road-mapping), ultrasonography and on-site MRI and CT. The surgery department also boasts a brand new Storz 4K NIRF scope tower. The first 12 months will be at Wear Referrals, a purpose buil t multidisciplinary referral hospital in the North East of England, followed by a role in the North of England at Wear, Kentdale and/or Paragon. We encourage an evidence-based multi-disciplinary approach, supporting a process of continuous learning and a collegiate atmosphere. This exciting role will require the candidate to: Provide clinical services as a specialist consultant in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery cases Work with the surgery team for the development of the services Support and develop the surgery team, in particular by supervising and teaching residents, interns, and nurses Work collaboratively with all other services and foster good interdepartmental relationships Demonstrate professional standards that will advance patient care Contribute equally with colleagues to an emergency out of hours rota on no more than a 1:4 share Specific experience/qualification/status/citizenship requirements: Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Have an excellent command of written and spoken English Maintain a professional and caring approach in all aspects of your work Provide evidence of your Right to Work in the UK What’s on offer?
