Job Introduction
We have a new and exciting opportunity for a part time (21 hours/week) Children's Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our well-established Royal Borough of Greenwich Social Care Children's Occupational Therapy (OT) service. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is keen to develop their knowledge and skills working with children, young people and their families, supporting children/young people with disabilities to live safely in their own homes.
Social Care Children's OT support includes functional home assessments, specialist equipment, moving and handling, home adaptations, home safety and housing input. The role requires the postholder to undertake community visits, work alone at times and a level of physical ability for equipment setups.
We are a supportive, friendly and dynamic place to work, co-located within a multidisciplinary service including Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Short Breaks and Business Support. We work closely with our colleagues in the Adult OT service, Housing and Adaptation teams, Education and Health services.

The successful candidate will have:
* Level 3 NVQ in Health or Social Care related qualification or equivalent experience.
* A passion for working with children, young people and their families, supporting their inclusion in all aspects of their lives.
* An understanding of the role of a Social Care Children's Occupational Therapy service.
* The ability to undertake comprehensive functional assessments and interventions, including specialist equipment and adaptations, plan and deliver effective Children's OT services.
* Knowledge and skills working in social care, health and/or education settings with children and young people with additional needs, or transferrable experience, skills and knowledge.
* Experience of involvement in multi-agency / partnership / consultative working and carrying out lone assessments in client's homes, including safeguarding duties and risk assessments.
* An interest in supporting development of services, with the child/young person and their family's needs at the centre.
