Job Description:
Require 10 years of experience in COBOL programming and VAXVMS development.
Extensive experience with VAXVMS operating system is necessary.
Familiarity with VAX COBOL compiler and related utilities is required.
Experience with VAXVMS file systems and database management.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with COBOL applications and VAXVMS systems.
Provide technical support to end users.
Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL programs and applications on VAXVMS.
Write, test, and debug COBOL code according to specifications.
Develop and document code following company standards.
Proficiency in VAXVMS operating system and its tools is essential.
Experience with ICMS tools and RDB relational database is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with specific VAXVMS applications or industries.
Experience with other legacy technologies.
Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Job Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with Client Business user team for requirement discussions.
* Participate in knowledge acquisition, technical design, and estimation for fixes and enhancements.
* Engage in both functional and technical knowledge sharing with Customer SMEs and Tech Leads.
* Coordinate work allocation and synchronization between offshore development and QA teams.
* Involve in project prioritization and design discussions with customer business users.
* Prioritize bug defects and changes with customer teams.
* Reproduce defects reported by the client.
* Maintain effective collaboration among team leads and business analysts.
* Coordinate with customer help desk for infrastructure-related tasks for onsite and offshore teams.
* Work with server admin teams for implementation and change control tasks.
* Perform root cause analysis and preliminary problem diagnosis with developers.
* Technically lead the VAXVMS development team.
* Report promptly to onsite and offshore managers and stakeholders.
* Educate the team to prevent recurrence of defects and bugs.
* Own the technical landscape of the application during knowledge acquisition.
* Build a knowledge repository to aid development and QA teams.
* Define lifecycle processes, templates, and checklists.
* Conduct group design and code reviews with customer and offshore teams.
* Engage in cross-functional knowledge sharing, training, and reviews.
* Coordinate resolution and clarification with customer teams.
