About The Team And The Role
The research team responds to a hunger in the business to understand our customers better, so we can succeed in our purpose to deliver more of what matters to them. We help develop the research programme in collaboration with senior leadership, implement the required projects and ensure the dissemination of insight and recommendations.
This is an ideal role for someone with a grounding in customer and consumer research and insights gained within an in-house insights team or a consumer research agency. As a Research Executive, you will play a key part in influencing senior stakeholders across the business. We are therefore looking for someone who can analyse research and data output and turn this into actionable insights and recommendations.
As a Research Executive, you will be responsible for setting up, managing and executing some of the projects the team owns. You will be one of the advocates of the customer voice in the wider business. You will work with every part of the organisation, in addition to closely working with the Insight and Marketing teams. You will have autonomy to own and run projects.
Examples of recent projects include:
* Feedback on a new value proposition: we carried out 2 waves of quantitative research among our customers and commissioned an external qualitative survey to explore attitudes to a new value proposition. We worked closely with the stakeholder leading the project and played a key role in influencing the proposition name and structure
* Customer survey investigating ways we could encourage customers to buy more of their pet needs from Ocado: we carried out a survey among Ocado customers who are pet owners to understand where they currently buy pet products and why, to unlock the barriers to buying pet products on Ocado
* Creative campaign evaluation: working with Brand Marketing on a project to understand consumer reactions to a planned creative campaign and propose changes based on their feedback
What You’ll Do
* Ensure that the most effective qualitative and quantitative research solutions are applied to answer stakeholders’ questions
* Take ownership of projects from proposal writing and research design through to analysis, reporting and knowledge sharing
* Present insights and research recommendations to stakeholders in an engaging, straightforward and concise manner
* Manage timelines, and flag areas for improved efficiencies within the research programme
* Become an expert in the self-service tools available within the Research team
Who You Are
* In-depth knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
* First hand experience designing, sampling and analysing research
* Numerate and analytical thinking
* Commercial awareness and problem solving ability
* Good knowledge of Google Slides and Sheets (or PowerPoint and Excel) and experience creating engaging visualisations and outputs
* Ideally, experience with customer satisfaction and brand tracking surveys!
