Job Purpose
This Health and Safety Advisor will provide H&S subject matter expertise to support and challenge delivery of best in class H&S performance in UU activities within a designated county. Working with operational colleagues, the role will support the delivery and embedment of health, safety and wellbeing improvement plans and the embedment of processes and procedures to ensure employees get home safe and well. Helping to identify and escalate critical H&S issues to line management and the relevant H&S Business Partner so they can ensure the right level of support and intervention is allocated at the right levels to help resolve the issue.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Regular field visits to support the delivery of health, safety and wellbeing policies, procedures, standards and improvement plans
* Provide advice as required on UU health and safety requirements
* Completion of H&S incident investigations
* Engagement with field teams to ensure learning from significant H&S incidents
* Build an effective working relationship with field teams so that operational dilemmas and implementation challenges are communicated to the County H&S Business Partner
* Provide support as required cross county and/or into UU wide improvement programs
* Provide support as required on the development and improvement of the H&S management systems and processes
Technical Skills & Experience
* Knowledge of safety management theory and evidence of having supported its delivery within an organisation
* Proven track record of assisting the delivery of targeted H&S improvement activities
* An understanding of H&S behavioural theory and practice
* NEBOSH Certificate (or working towards this)
* Experience of managing own professional development and delivering agreed targets in line with personal performance plans
* Good interpersonal skills and experience of effective communication with stakeholders
