About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our Housing Service as a Team Lead. In this role, you will manage a team of frontline Housing Solutions Officers, ensuring high standards of service delivery in line with Council policies and procedures. You will play a key role in overseeing the delivery of a comprehensive housing advice service. This includes advising on all housing options—such as home ownership, private rented sector opportunities, and a range of affordable housing solutions—with a strong focus on homelessness prevention and early intervention. Your responsibilities will also include supervising and supporting Housing Officers in conducting homelessness assessments and interviews, where homelessness cannot be prevented. These duties must be carried out in accordance with relevant legislation, including Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017), the Homelessness Code of Guidance, and local Council policy. You will also ensure that vulnerable individuals are supported and safeguarded throughout their housing journey.

About You

You will need a diverse skill set, including strong communication, empathy, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities. These qualities will enable you to understand the needs of customers, resolve complex housing issues, and build effective relationships with both service users and stakeholders. In addition, technical knowledge and adaptability are essential to navigate evolving housing legislation and deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service.

To arrange an informal discussion about the role with Will Neville or Ola Kareem please contact CWrecruitment@herefordshire.gov.uk
