Overview

Join to apply for the Business Manager role at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

The Business Manager will work across the West IHC Therapy Services as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the planning, performance and accountability agendas across the senior team and its services, and deputising for members of the Senior Leadership Teams as required. This post-holder will manage a range of improvement projects and will coordinate and build relationships across the Health Community and Corporate teams, as well as wider partners. Maintaining a business view across all services in the West IHC Therapy Services ensuring consistency and collaboration across and advising and supporting senior managers where required. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.


Responsibilities

* Operational Management: Work as part of the West IHC Therapy Services Senior Management Team to ensure the delivery of operational and performance targets.
* Leadership & Communication: Be an effective leader, motivating staff within the team and supporting the Senior Leadership Team.
* Planning, Performance, Organisation and Project Management: Develop and produce monthly and annual performance reports in conjunction with Service Leads and the Business and Planning Manager; lead on Health Community Reports as required, working closely with corporate services.
* Finance: Proactively control expenditure within budgetary responsibility and manage the area’s budget effectively.
* Service Improvement, Planning & Modernisation: Research and benchmark against national standards and neighbouring Health Boards to recommend sustainable service improvements to the Senior Management Team.
* Information and Performance Monitoring: Lead the monitoring and performance of Therapy Services teams.
* Human Resources / Workforce & Development: Manage administrative, secretarial and clerical staff within the service and provide line management for other staff/departments as delegated.


Qualifications

* Essential Criteria: Management or professional qualification at postgraduate level or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and experience.
* ILM management level 4 or equivalent qualification / level of work experience and knowledge; commitment to achieve within 2 years if not held.
* Prince 2 practitioner, similar qualification, or equivalent level work experience; willingness to achieve within 2 years if not held.
* In-depth knowledge across a wide range of Health Board services, systems and procedures; thorough knowledge of the NHS and its issues; evidence of continuing personal and professional development.


Desirable criteria

* Knowledge of information systems.
* Political awareness.


Experience

* Significant experience working within NHS settings.
* Experience of managing successful change across professional boundaries, and building/maintaining relationships.
* Ability to provide examples of progress against key objectives in development and delivery of services within the Acute/Community sector; multi-agency working at strategic level.
* Leadership and major change management; experience developing business plans and business cases aligned with corporate objectives; successful track record with evidence of business and operational planning.
* Experience of significant resource management – financial, human and capital.


Aptitude And Abilities

* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including with Directors and external organisations.
* Sound financial management; ability to analyse, interpret and convey highly complex information tailored to the audience.
* IT literate with Office 365, Teams (email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation) and clinical information systems.
