We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Site Supervisor to join our growing team, delivering high-profile High Voltage Substation projects within the utilities sector.
This is a key site-based role, supporting safe, efficient delivery of works while working closely with the Site Manager and Project Manager.
Here are just some of the activities you will be involved in…
1. Assisting the Site Manager and Project Manager with the planning and coordination of site works, with a strong focus on health and safety
2. Supervising day-to-day site activities and construction gangs, ensuring high standards of housekeeping and early identification of potential H&S risks
3. Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and implementing CDM checklist requirements
4. Managing both directly employed workforces and subcontractors, allocating work and overseeing safe and efficient delivery
5. Delivering site briefings, inductions, RAMS briefings, permits to dig, and point-of-risk assessments
6. Carrying out regular HSEQ inspections covering plant, excavations, equipment, and temporary works (including shoring)
7. Collating evidence for Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for site-specific permanent works and ensuring alignment with approved designs
8. Coordinating with the Site Manager on material submissions and plant hire and off-hire in line with programme requirements
9. Supporting the Project Manager and Commercial Team with site-based commercial duties, including maintaining site diaries, reporting compensation events, and identifying cost and scope changes
We would love to hear from you if…
You have at least three years’ supervisory experience within the utilities or civil engineering sector, ideally with a strong background in High Voltage Substation works. Experience working with or for Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) is essential, with familiarity with UK Power Networks (UKPN) processes being highly desirable.
You will hold SSSTS as a minimum, with SMSTS considered advantageous, along with a valid Streetworks Supervisor (NRSWA) certification. An IOSH certificate is required, with a civil engineering qualification, HNC, and First Aid training viewed as beneficial. A background in energy projects, particularly cable installation, would be advantageous.
You will be confident setting teams to work, supervising construction gangs on a day-to-day basis, and supporting the safe and efficient delivery of site activities. Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel, are preferred, alongside a strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice.
Due to the mobile nature of the role, a full and valid UK driving licence is essential. A proactive approach, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with site and project teams will be key to your success.
