We are looking for dynamic, skilled, and empathetic allied health professionals to join our Crisis and Home Treatment Team within CAMHS in Hereford as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in delivering urgent mental health support to children, young people, and their families right when they need it most, and often in the comfort of their own home.
The team adopts a trauma‑informed holistic approach to the young people of Hereford, and has a supportive, learning culture meaning this is a great place to work.
The service runs 7 days a week 8am‑8pm shifts; flexible working is encouraged. This is a part‑time role working 33.75 hours per week.

Main duties of the job
* Providing rapid, responsive assessments and interventions to young people in mental health crisis.
* Engaging with parents/carers.
* Collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, therapists, and social workers.
* Completing comprehensive risk assessments.
* Engaging in weekly MDT meetings.
* Participating in clinical, safeguarding and reflective supervision.
* Maintaining contemporaneous clinical record‑keeping.
* Working alongside clinical leads and operational leads.

Job responsibilities
* Operate as part of a multidisciplinary team providing Crisis Intervention and Intensive Home Treatment to CYP countywide.
* Use initiative and take responsibility for yourself and the quality of your work and the service you provide to CYP.
* Proactively engage in formal and informal education of Acute Trust staff and other partnership agencies, families and children and young people.
* Actively and creatively engage CYP and carers encouraging them to make appropriate use of the mental health, social care and voluntary services available as part of a process of recovery and crisis management.
* Undertake full psychosocial assessments with those in need; ensure thorough, precise and timely documentation and dissemination of information in line with Trust policy and procedure.
* Undertake a supervisory role to junior staff in line with Trust policy and procedure.
* Undertake acute risk assessment and safety planning for extremely vulnerable client groups during times of crisis.
* Deliver high quality, evidence‑based care to a defined team caseload.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Evidence of post‑registered clinical qualifications/training or ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of training to a minimum of post‑graduate diploma level.
* Current registration with relevant professional body.
* Understands that they will be asked to provide original certificates to verify qualifications at point of offer.
* Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development.
Experience
* Extensive post‑registration experience in mental health care including mental health assessment and risk assessment.
* Use of therapeutic interventions within mental health settings (1:1, counselling, family therapy and group work).
* Experience delivering teaching/training.
* Experience providing consultation.
* Experience working in a CYP service or Crisis & Home Treatment service.
* Formulation and communication of a clinical presentation to an MDT.
* Evidence of providing a supervisor role.
Skills & Abilities
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.
* Ability to travel to patients across a wide geographical area in a timely manner.
