We’re growing our Health & Safety team and are looking for an experienced Health & Safety professional to join us at Plymouth Community Homes.
About the role
As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will provide clear, consistent and professional health and safety advice across all departments and at all levels of our diverse organisation. You will play a key role in supporting managers and teams to manage risk effectively while enabling good decision‑making and positive safety outcomes.
Health and safety at PCH is not just about compliance, it is about how we care for, support and engage our colleagues, and how we embed safety into everyday decision making across the business. The Health & Safety Team will be driving, supporting and embedding a human‑focused safety culture model, strengthening engagement, trust and learning across the organisation.
Responsibilities
* Advising line managers and colleagues on day to day health and safety topics
* Developing, reviewing and embedding risk assessments and safe systems of work
* Undertaking workplace inspections
* Investigating accidents and incidents, including reporting where the RIDDOR criteria is met
* Identifying areas for improvement and working collaboratively with managers to develop practical solutions
* Supporting compliance with statutory and non‑statutory health and safety requirements
* Assisting the Health & Safety Manager with corporate and departmental strategies, projects and continuous improvement
* Contributing to the ongoing development and maintenance of PCH’s safety management system
About you
You must be a confident and capable health and safety professional who is comfortable working both operationally and strategically, and who values collaboration, engagement and is a dynamic, confident team player.
Qualifications
* NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6, or equivalent qualification in Occupational Safety and Health
* Experience providing health and safety advice within a complex or multi‑disciplinary organisation
* A proactive, solution‑focused approach with strong communication and influencing skills
* An interest in progressive, human‑centred approaches to health and safety and cultural improvement
* Full UK Driving Licence
