⚡Grid Integration Technical Manager (Power Systems / P&C)
Location: UK (with European collaboration)
Sector: HVDC | Interconnectors | Transmission | Grid Readiness
We’re looking for a Power Systems Engineer to play a central role in ensuring the successful grid integration of a major new interconnector. If you thrive at the intersection of power system behaviour, modelling, compliance and operational readiness — and enjoy working with TSOs, OEMs and EPC partners — this is an opportunity to influence one of the UK’s most critical infrastructure projects.
🔧 The Role
You’ll provide technical coordination and guidance across power system modelling, compliance, and system readiness activities. Working closely with the UK TSO, OEMs, EPC partners and internal engineering teams, you’ll help ensure the interconnector meets all connection, modelling and operational expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Support power system studies and performance assessments, ensuring network behaviour, stability, and fault response meet UK requirements.
* Translate Grid Code obligations into clear engineering actions, contributing to control, protection and operational philosophies.
* Review, coordinate and challenge power system models and studies (DIgSILENT, PSCAD) delivered by contractors and OEMs.
* Act as a technical interface with NESO on modelling, data submissions, compliance documentation and operational notifications (EON/ION/FON).
* Support commissioning planning, readiness activities, FAT/SAT processes and joint commissioning discussions.
* Work across internal teams and European partners to ensure a consistent, aligned approach to grid integration deliverables.
* Contribute to internal standards, processes and documentation for HVDC and grid-connected assets.
💡 What You’ll Bring
Essential
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Strong grounding in power system engineering, including dynamic behaviour, stability and HV network performance.
* Hands-on experience with power system modelling tools (DIgSILENT, PSCAD or similar).
* Good knowledge of UK Grid Code requirements, compliance processes and operational notification stages.
* Direct engagement with NESO/NGESO or similar TSO organisations.
* Experience with HVDC, transmission, large-scale generation or energy storage projects.
* Exposure to commissioning, energisation and system start-up activities.
* Familiarity with SCADA, control and protection system operation and testing.
Desirable
* Experience working with European TSOs.
* Knowledge of German grid code requirements (helpful but not essential).
