The Fife Health Promotion Service leads initiatives to maintain and improve health and wellbeing, aiming to reduce health inequalities across all life stages, from early years to older adults. We are seeking a full-time Health Promotion Support Worker to assist in delivering the Fife Health & Social Care Partnership’s Tobacco & Vaping Prevention and Protection portfolio. The successful candidate will primarily focus on this portfolio while supporting the Health Promotion Specialist Stop Smoking & Vaping Service.
Tobacco and Vaping Prevention, Protection, and Cessation efforts contribute to improving population health in accordance with national legislation and local strategies, including the Health (Tobacco, Nicotine etc. and Care) (Scotland) Act 2016, the Tobacco and Vaping Framework: Roadmap to 2034, and Fife’s Prevention and Early Intervention Strategy.
The role involves supporting the planning and coordination of the Prevention & Protection workplans, collaborating closely with Health Promotion Officers and the Tobacco & Vaping Lead. Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting and evaluating SmokeFree prevention education programs for children and young people across Fife primary and secondary schools.
* Facilitating consultation with interested groups to report on local challenges and successes.
* Assisting in recruiting peer representatives from secondary schools to promote a whole-systems approach to understanding and mitigating tobacco and vaping risks among youth.
* Supporting the promotion, direction, and evaluation of targeted stop smoking and vaping interventions.
* Motivating self and others to meet deadlines, maintaining clear records and reports.
* Networking and communicating effectively with the Health Promotion Service team, Tobacco & Vaping team, and stakeholders across Fife, including Education, NHS, third sector, and statutory organizations.
* Supporting the delivery of prevention initiatives and ensuring policy and legislative compliance within NHS Fife spaces.
Applicants should have current experience in health improvement, community development, or education, along with knowledge of tobacco and vaping issues and their impact on population health.
