About us

Our business is built on the belief that knowing where things happen matters. We are a software and services organisation specialising in the application of Geographical Information Systems (GIS). We are also a recognised #BestWorkplace in Ireland and Europe.

The Role

Esri Ireland is seeking to recruit a GIS Contractor to work on a hybrid basis, supporting a Dublin-based organisation on a 12-month contract with the possibility of a further contract extension.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a large organisation, advising on and developing solutions across the ArcGIS technology stack. It is also a unique opportunity to work across various sectors/industries and engage with senior stakeholders.

The successful candidate would be required to attend the client's offices up to 3 days per week in Dublin city centre, be embedded as part of a team providing GIS services, and will work as an extension of our client's current teams, working directly with Esri Ireland resources and with the client to understand the requirements of each business unit, implement ArcGIS Online-based solutions to meet these requirements, and ensure that these solutions are implemented in line with our client's data governance processes and workflows. The candidate will also provide on-site training and knowledge transfer to our clients' teams, to empower users to become self-sufficient in ArcGIS.

Requirements (Duties and Responsibilities)

1. Development and implementation of web services, maps and apps in a web GIS environment
2. Knowledge and understanding of GIS principles, theories and practices
3. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment
4. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work independently
5. Exercise good judgment with minimal supervision
6. Excellent organisational, negotiation and problem-solving skills
7. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills

Minimum Requirements

8. Relevant third-level qualification (Degree in Geography/GIS, Science, Engineering, or similar), with a minimum of 2 years relevant post-qualification experience is required.
9. Experience with Esri ArcGIS software is required.
10. The ideal candidate will be required to travel to Dublin City for the hybrid working arrangement
11. The successful candidate must confirm they have the correct entitlements to work in the Republic of Ireland as a contractor.

Location

This is a hybrid working opportunity.
