Temporary Finishing Operators- Hawick Who are we looking for? We have several temporary opportunities available for approximately 3 months, with potential extension depending on business needs and performance. We are looking for flexible, adaptable individuals who learn quickly and take pride in producing high-quality work. Experience in knitwear or textile manufacturing is highly desirable, but we will also consider candidates with strong practical skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to be trained. This role involves supporting our finishing department across key processes including brushing, picking, trimming, and occasional button work. These steps are essential in ensuring our garments meet the high standards expected in luxury knitwear production. Who is Barrie Knitwear? Finishing – Brush and Pick Operating brushing machines or hand tools to raise fibres and improve fabric texture Removing loose fibres, lint, and surface imperfections Inspecting garments for defects such as loose threads, snags, or knots Cutting or removing excess threads and preparing garments for final stages Ensuring garments meet strict quality and presentation standards Supporting production tasks (as required) Trimming excess threads from knitted garments Assisting with button attachment using industrial sewing equipment Ensuring correct placement, alignment, and thread matching for buttons Checking garments for overall finish and quality compliance What will you bring to the role? Experience in knitwear or textiles manufacturing is highly desirable but not essential Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity High attention to detail and pride in quality work Ability to follow instructions accurately Good communication and teamwork skills Flexibility to support different tasks in a fast-paced environment What benefits can you expect?
