Job Summary
The Royal Navy Principal Security Adviser (PSyA) is looking to recruit an Administrative Assistant to work within the Corporate STRAP / SAP Security team. STRAP is a regime that regulates access to sensitive intelligence material requiring enhanced protective handling, while SAP protects the MOD’s most sensitive military capabilities and programmes. The Navy Corporate STRAP team provides support, guidance, and facilitates processes for the assurance of all STRAP materials, facilities, and assets globally across the Naval Service, both ashore and afloat.
Location: Portsmouth, South East England, PO1 3LU
This role primarily requires office-based work, with some flexible working arrangements to be mutually agreed. The position is based at PSyA HQ, Jago Road, HMNB Portsmouth, with possible travel to HMS Collingwood and within the UK as needed.
This is a 37-hour per week position.
Job Description
Working alongside civil servants and military staff, this role offers an exciting opportunity in the Defence security environment. You will support the PSyA STRAP / SAP team with daily administrative tasks, ensuring the timely and accurate flow of information, documents, and records both internally and externally. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, managing SharePoint and other data systems, conducting inductions, and supporting security and training activities.
Responsibilities, Activities & Duties
Key responsibilities include managing and maintaining RN TLB STRAP/SAP databases, collating monthly returns, supervising security registers, managing SharePoint files, updating KPI dashboards, conducting inductions, liaising with stakeholders, supporting EO activities, providing security clearances, ensuring data protection, and assisting with training materials.
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Current DV security clearance or ability to attain it
* UK nationality
* Experience with MS Office 365 applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint
* Positive attitude, eager to learn
* Ability to work independently and in a team
* Strong relationship-building skills
* Ability to work at pace and prioritize effectively
Desirable:
* Knowledge of MOD Protective Security processes and SPF
* Experience with MOD STRAP Security processes
* Knowledge of JSP 440 and Cabinet Office Supplement
This role involves handling highly sensitive information, requiring UK nationality and the ability to obtain DV security clearance. Travel within the UK may be required. The position is subject to security vetting and background checks.
