About the Role
A well-established precision engineering and MRO operation is seeking an experienced Machine Borer to operate and maintain boring machines to produce high-precision components to specified tolerances. The role requires a strong machining background, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
⦁ Operate a range of boring machines to fine tolerances.
⦁ Work independently, using own initiative.
⦁ Read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
⦁ Take responsibility for own work and support others where required.
⦁ Apply knowledge of horizontal boring practices.
⦁ Measure components using imperial measurement systems.
⦁ Work in accordance with company procedures, operating manuals, and standard operating processes.
⦁ Maintain awareness of responsibilities under environmental procedures.
⦁ Maintain an up-to-date Practical Experience Record (PER) book.
⦁ Train or mentor colleagues within a defined scope, subject to experience and qualifications.
⦁ Ensure all duties are carried out in compliance with health & safety, environmental regulations, and company procedures.
Education & Qualifications
⦁ Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
⦁ Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English.
Experience & Technical Knowledge
⦁ Machining background is essential.
⦁ Experience with horizontal boring machines is desirable.
⦁ Basic IT skills.
⦁ Trained in machine shop technologies and working practices.
⦁ Aerospace experience desirable but not essential.
⦁ Some knowledge of CNC machining is advantageous but not essential.

Working Conditions
⦁ No direct reports.
⦁ Flexibility required, including overtime and weekend working.
⦁ Exposure to greases, oils, and industrial materials.
⦁ Training provided for the use of overhead cranes.
⦁ Manual handling is a key part of the role.
⦁ Regular use of hand tools, power tools, ovens, and complex machinery.
⦁ High standards of housekeeping required, working to 5S principles.
Additional Requirements
⦁ Unrestricted right to live and work in the UK.
⦁ Completion of mandatory training as required.
⦁ Ability to stand for prolonged periods, with scheduled breaks.
⦁ Role involves lifting heavy components.
