SEN Teacher – Full-Time, Temp-Perm

The Opportunity:
A respected specialist school in Borehamwood is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis from February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator passionate about supporting students with autism and related needs, such as speech and language challenges, sensory processing difficulties, and behavioural regulation.
You'll be working in a supportive, well-equipped environment with small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio. The school prides itself on offering personalised learning experiences that enable each pupil to reach their potential, supported by a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver tailored lessons to meet the needs of pupils with complex SEN, focusing on autism and related challenges.
Establish structured routines and use visual aids to enhance communication and learning.
Work closely with Teaching Assistants (TAs), therapists, and families to ensure coordinated support for students.
Monitor and report on pupil progress in relation to EHCP outcomes and individual learning targets.
Use evidence-based strategies to support emotional regulation, independence, and self-management.
Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment where students feel valued and supported.
Engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and actively contribute to the wider school community.
About You:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred but not essential.
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly in a specialist or alternative education setting.
A strong understanding of autism and related developmental needs.
Patient, resilient, and nurturing in your approach to teaching and supporting students.
Confident communicator who can collaborate effectively within a team.
Must hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service.
