Platform Engineer — Security Specialist (Azure)

We're hiring a Platform Engineer with deep security expertise to join a major UK enterprise organisation undergoing large-scale cloud transformation.
This is a high-impact role working at the intersection of platform engineering, cloud architecture, and cyber security, helping to define and enforce security standards across a complex Azure estate.
You'll partner closely with Cyber Security, Architecture, and Engineering teams to embed secure-by-design principles across both cloud and on-prem environments.
The Opportunity
This is not a ticket-driven ops role.
You'll be shaping how security is built into the platform - influencing architecture, governance, and engineering practices across a large organisation with significant Azure adoption.
Key areas of impact include:
* Establishing and governing security baselines across the platform
* Driving adoption of Azure security capabilities and best practices
* Providing expert consultancy to engineering teams
* Defining secure design standards for applications and infrastructure
* Supporting auditable compliance across internal and customer-facing systems
* Partnering with architects and product teams to deliver secure platform solutions
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a hands-on engineer with strong architectural awareness:
* Extensive experience with Azure cloud technologies
* Deep understanding of Azure security models and enterprise integration patterns
* Strong background in Infrastructure as Code across IaaS/PaaS/SaaS
* Experience developing secure design patterns and governance frameworks
* Ability to advise and mentor engineering teams
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills
* Awareness of emerging trends in cloud security
Desirable certifications:
* AZ-500 Azure Security Engineer
* SC-100 Cybersecurity Architect
* AZ-305 Azure Solutions Architect
* CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional)

Working Model
Hybrid working - typically 2–3 days per week onsite, with flexibility depending on team needs.
Candidates can be based near Tunbridge Wells, Redhill, or Bolton offices.
