Remuneration Team Manager
The role is based at the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust and reports to the Head of the Establishment Systems Team.
Job Overview
The Remuneration Team Manager manages and develops the Trust’s Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system, ensuring benefits realization, best practice, and integration with payroll and other systems. The role leads the Remuneration team, develops processes that support workforce and payroll management across the Trust, and provides leadership and strategic oversight.
Responsibilities
* Provide fully compliant transactional services in line with national guidelines and local policy, including GDPR.
* Act as liaison with the Trust’s payroll provider and provide operational leadership.
* Lead and manage the Remuneration Team, ensuring efficient and customer‑focused service delivery.
* Give technical support, advice and guidance on ESR, workforce structures, pay and grading.
* Manage relationships with managers and key stakeholders concerning terms and conditions, pay awards and related matters.
* Provide training and advice to managers and staff as required.
* Analyse, interpret and advise on the impact of pay circulars, Agenda for Change amendments and other changes, formulating action plans to address risks.
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators and raise challenges appropriately.
* Compile and present reports and analysis to stakeholders at all levels of the Trust.
Qualifications
* Master’s degree level or equivalent experience in a leadership role with workforce systems or payroll.
* ESR/Payroll qualification (e.g., CIPP).
Knowledge and Experience
* In‑depth knowledge of ESR and workforce systems.
* Significant experience managing workload in a workforce/finance systems function and formulating solutions for service users across the Trust.
* Experience managing workforce structures, data reporting and information management.
* Experience working within a payroll function.
* Understanding of workforce metrics and KPIs.
Communication Skills
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills; able to communicate with managers and staff at all levels.
* Proficiency in producing and presenting complex and intuitive management reports that monitor utilisation, identify themes and trends, and ensure performance compliance.
Technical Skills
* Excellent Windows IT skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
Additional Information
Travel to any Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust site may be required for meetings. Applicants who require immigration sponsorship under the current minimum salary threshold are not eligible.
