Job Description
* Provide legal advice across a range of matters including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial contracts (sales and procurement), intellectual property, information technology, and litigation, with minimal supervision.
* Advise on general property matters & leases, this excludes any conveyancing and complex specialist real estate matters, which are outsourced.
* Support senior legal leadership in reviewing tenders and contracts for various business units.
* Apply sound legal and commercial judgement to proposed transactions, partnerships, and compliance-related matters.
* Manage external legal counsel to ensure timely, cost-effective advice within budget constraints.
* Offer strategic guidance to operational teams on dispute resolution prior to formal legal proceedings.
* Ideally, provide regulatory advice including international trade controls and data privacy compliance.
The Successful Applicant
Must be a qualified solicitor or barrister in the UK (or a common law jurisdiction), with a minimum of 8-10 years post-qualification experience, including in-house legal experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines independently or collaboratively within a team.
Demonstrated expertise in key legal areas including:
* Mergers & acquisitions
* Corporate law
* Property and construction law
* Commercial contracts (sales and procurement)
* Intellectual property
* Information technology
* Data security
* Litigation
Excellent skills in structuring, drafting, and negotiating legal documents.
Capable of managing a substantial workload in a fast-paced environment.
Able to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal stakeholders.
Experience in developing risk-based legal solutions to support complex business transactions.
