How you'll make a difference
As a Business Administrator Apprentice, you will deliver a comprehensive business and administrative support service to the Social Care team within the North Locality. You will play a key role in ensuring the team operates efficiently and in line with statutory requirements within a fast-paced and evolving environment.

What you will be doing
* Working alongside our experienced colleagues, you will act as a main point of contact for the service area, providing clear and effective communication when responding to enquiries and information requests.
* It will be your responsibility to provide administrative support to managers, ensuring that processes run efficiently and procedures are followed effectively. This will include tasks such as preparing and taking minutes for key meetings.
* You will have the opportunity to develop your research skills, gathering and analysing information relevant to your service area and collating evidence to support reports. This may also involve drafting sections of documents for use by colleagues.
* A key part of your role will involve collating, maintaining and analysing records and data, ensuring information is accurate, accessible and effectively interpreted from computerised systems.
* You will regularly interact with customers, colleagues and partner agencies, helping to build and maintain strong working relationships.
* In addition, you will learn how to identify and communicate concerns, queries and issues clearly, ensuring they are escalated appropriately and in a timely manner.
* It will be key for you to support the accurate recording, monitoring and maintenance of financial information, including budgets and resources.
What we need from you
* You will ideally hold a minimum of GCSEs at grades A*-C/4-9, or equivalent qualifications, in English and maths.
* It would be advantageous to have good IT skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft packages such as Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
* You must demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, with the commitment and motivation to successfully complete your qualification.
* Strong communication skills are essential, alongside the confidence to engage effectively across a wide range of channels, including telephone, email and face-to-face interactions.
* Ideally, you will have experience of basic financial procedures, such as handling petty cash or processing invoices.
What you need to know
* In person interviews will be held on 15th June 2026.
* All candidates that successfully reach the interview stages will be required to provide a 10-minute presentation as part of the recruitment process. Candidates who do not provide a presentation at interview will not progress through the recruitment process.
* Throughout your 18-month apprenticeship, we will allocate you a workplace mentor to give you guidance and support in completing your Level 3 Business Administration, which requires weekly day release learning at South Gloucestershire and Stroud (SGS) College, Filton Avenue, Filton, Bristol, BS34 7AT.
* This is an 18-month limited term contract for the duration of the apprenticeship programme.
* As part of this training route, you will need to undertake a basic skills assessment as part of the selection process. These will be emailed to you by the training provider, SGS College.
* SGS college have elected to deliver the on-programme learning using the Level 3 Diploma for the Business Administrator. There are 7 mandatory units and one relevant optional unit to complete.
* The salary for this apprenticeship is set at the current National Minimum Wage:
* 21+ : £12.71 per hour, £24,454 per year
* 18–20 : £10.85 per hour, £20,875 per year
* 16–17 : £8.00 per hour, £15,392 per year
