Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Occupational Therapist to join the Furness Home Based Treatment Team in Barrow. The post will be supported under the supervision of a network Occupational Therapy Clinical Specialist and will involve clinical Occupational Therapy provision within a multidisciplinary adult acute setting for service users experiencing mental health difficulties requiring home‑based treatment.
The successful candidate will provide Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to support recovery within home treatment, supervise junior staff, assist with local service development across the Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, and participate in Occupational Therapy Best Practice Forums. The role requires excellent time‑management and communication skills and a compassionate approach to working in busy environments.
Responsibilities
* Deliver occupational therapy assessments and interventions to support recovery for home‑based mental health service users.
* Provide supervision to junior staff and contribute to local service development within Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.
* Use a deep understanding of the relationship between occupation and mental health to maintain or restore a beneficial match between an individual’s abilities, occupational demands and environmental demands.
* Plan and deliver individual and group interventions tailored to complex occupational needs, prioritising care for users with high occupational risk and significant impact on their functioning.
* Liaise and negotiate across service boundaries and in varied settings, using evidence to support and develop practice.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s (or equivalent) Diploma/BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy (OT)
* Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
* Post‑graduate training relevant to mental health occupational therapy
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
* Student educator qualification and experience supporting undergraduate learners (desirable)
