Location: Barrow-in-Furness – Hybrid (2 days onsite per fortnight, depending on business needs)

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Senior Engineer in our Marine Systems Control and Instrumentation Team, you will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge C&I designs for submarine platforms. Your responsibilities will include:
* Creating functional designs for C&I solutions based on Piping & Instrumentation diagrams.
* Producing Bills of Materials for C&I equipment.
* Specifying instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, and level analysis tailored to specific process conditions.
* Ensuring designs meet a variety of standards, including functional, safety, and naval requirements.
* Measuring compliance against non-functional stakeholders (e.g., EMC, Shock, Metallics).
* Producing verification evidence to demonstrate design compliance.
* Creating essential design documents such as I/O schedules and functional design specifications.
* Implementing physical system-to-system interface designs.
* Leading technical design reviews and articulating technical arguments clearly.
* Managing system design maturity to meet program demands.
* Liaising with internal and external customers as part of a collaborative technical team.
Your Skills and Experiences
We’re looking for someone with a strong background in electrical engineering. Here’s what you’ll need:
* BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent.
* Working towards professional registration.
* Strong technical report writing skills.
* Demonstrable experience in the engineering lifecycle.
* Knowledge of defence standards is a plus.
* Experience in system calculations, modeling, and analysis.
* Understanding of submarine design programs and high, medium, and low voltage systems.
* Familiarity with control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS).
* Experience with IEC 61508 – Functional Safety or similar standards.
* Multi-disciplinary engineering understanding, including Mechanical, Process, Instrument, Electrical, Control, and Safety.
* Experience in specifying equipment for Hazardous Areas.
