Job Summary
Are you looking for a specialist role? Join the Bladder & Bowel Specialist Service in implementing the South Warwickshire University Foundation Trust values of safety, compassion, effectiveness, inclusiveness and trust. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic clinician who is passionate about patients with continence issues. With health promotion at the forefront of care delivery, this service aims to achieve a positive difference in patients’ suffering from bladder and bowel dysfunction.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist advice and support to professionals, patients and carers working within the health care economy.
* Assess and manage the complex continence health needs of an identified population and implement care management plans.
* Provide and deliver educational programmes to patients, staff and carers, ensuring a climate of lifelong learning and evidence-based practice.
* Prescribe using the continence formulary and ensure safe, cost-effective prescribing.
* Act in accordance with current local Warwickshire Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Trust guidelines to protect vulnerable adults.
* Maintain clinical and professional competencies in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* Develop and maintain high standards of clinical governance, audit and research, including monthly clinical audits.
* Provide clinical supervision and support to the bladder & bowel specialist team and supervise other staff.
* Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in service redesign and policy development.
* Act as a patient advocate and facilitate the vast spectrum of continence services, from early assessment to specialist care.
* Ensure effective communication and continuity of care across acute hospital, community, residential and nursing care settings.
* Provide leadership for workforce planning, recruitment, and retention of clinical staff.
* Implement and audit policies, guidelines and procedures ensuring evidence-based practice and patient-centred care.
* Maintain accurate record keeping, data protection, confidentiality and reporting.
* Support and mentor pre-registration students, medical students and staff through induction and preceptorship programmes.
Person Specification
* Essential Qualifications:
o Registered Nurse (1st Level Degree)
o Degree level qualification or working towards
o Teaching/Mentor qualification
o Leadership Qualification
* Desirable Qualifications:
o Coaching Skills
* Essential Experience:
o Significant post‑registration experience
o Competent work within a continence environment
o Planning and complex patient management
o Experience of working in a team environment
o Experience of nurse leadership and management
o Evidence of continued professional development
* Desirable Experience:
o Experience in managing complaints
o Experience in service improvement

o Ability to provide supervision and support staff

o Must have own transport and be able to drive in variable weather conditions
