Estimator / Contracts Manager – Roofing & Cladding
Location: Essex
Salary: £40,000 – £70,000 DOE
Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
We are a small, tight-knit roofing and cladding contractor in Essex with an annual turnover of £4–5 million. We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Contracts Manager to join our team and take responsibility for estimating, contract management, and project delivery.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in leadwork, slating, tiling, and flat roofing systems, and be comfortable managing multiple projects from tender through to completion.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate estimates and costings for roofing and cladding projects

Manage contracts from award to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification
*
Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
*
Conduct site visits and surveys to support tender submissions
*
Monitor project financials, including budgets, variations, and final accounts
*
Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality standards, and contract requirements
*
Support business growth by identifying opportunities and improving estimating processes
Requirements
*
Proven experience in roofing and cladding, including leadwork, slating, tiling, and flat roofing systems
*
Experience as an Estimator, Contracts Manager, or Senior Contracts/Project Manager in a similar sector
*
Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management
*
Excellent organisational, communication, and negotiation skills
*
Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines
*
Full UK driving licence
