We are seeking a dedicated Test and Inspect Engineer to join our team at HMP Littlehey, a Category C & YOI Male prison in Huntingdon, PE28 0SR. This role is part of a self‑contained team that works Monday‑Sunday and is committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment for prisoners, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
As a Test and Inspect Engineer you will work alongside experienced colleagues from various trades—plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners and administrators—to maintain and inspect electrical systems across the prison. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements and for delivering quality workmanship under tight deadlines.
Qualifications
* At least five years experience working as an electrician
* Two years experience working in a role as a test and inspection electrician or equivalent – desirable
* Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems and catering equipment – desirable
* Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
* Strong communication skills
* Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word – desirable
* Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines
* C&G 2367 or 2357 (Electrical Installation)
* C&G 2391 - Electrical inspection and testing
* NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent
* Good Health & Safety knowledge
* Excellent organisational, time management and people skills
