Overview
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Shift Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing site in Wrexham. Operating within a high-volume, fast-paced environment, you’ll play a key role in ensuring production equipment runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on problem‑solving and working as part of a collaborative shift team.
Responsibilities
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment
* Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime
* Support production teams to ensure machinery operates at optimal efficiency
* Complete preventative maintenance tasks in line with site schedules
* Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health & safety, food safety, and quality standards
* Accurately record maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
* Assist with equipment improvements, breakdown root cause analysis, and minor project work
* Work effectively on a continental shift pattern, handing over clearly between shifts
Qualifications & Experience
* Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline (or equivalent)
* Proven experience working within a manufacturing environment (food, FMCG, or similar highly regulated sector preferred)
* Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical and/or electrical systems
* A proactive, team‑focused approach with good communication skills
* Ability to work calmly under pressure and make sound engineering decisions
* Ideal background / Previous roles may include: Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Shift Technician, Reliability Engineer or field service engineer
