Project Engineering Management Team Leader
We are looking for a dynamic and committed leader to join the HVDC Product Delivery Group’s Center of Excellence, taking on a pivotal role in delivering the energy transition. As UK Team Leader for Project Engineering Managers (PEMs), you will report directly to the Global Head of Project Engineering Management and lead the team of PEMs based in Stafford to ensure successful execution of HVDC projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive performance and successful delivery of HVDC projects with focus on customer satisfaction and execution excellence.
* Lead, grow, and develop the UK PEM team: talent acquisition, onboarding, career development, technical leadership.
* Take ownership of project KPIs (QCD, risks, client engagement) ensuring project engineering delivery meets expectations.
* Include direct people management, staffing and performance development.
* Promote a strong project culture: establish ownership, accountability, anticipation.
* Actively contribute to transformation of the PEM organization toward a culture of project excellence, accountability and collaboration.
* Support project reviews and escalations: primary escalation point for engineering topics in project reviews, resolve critical issues.
* Participate in strategic planning: collaborate with Engineering Directors, Head of Functions, to improve project governance, processes, and capabilities.
* Serve as technical leader to develop scope of work and interface with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Engineering, Sourcing, Engineering sub‑contractors.
* Utilise technical discipline knowledge, experience and analytical thinking to execute policy strategy.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Engineering degree or equivalent experience, ideally in Electrical or Controls engineering.
* Experience from the energy sector (Oil & Gas, Power Distribution, Power Transmission, Power Generation) preferred.
* Strong experience in complex EPC projects and leading engineering disciplines with significant people leadership experience.
* Passionate about developing teams and people, ability to drive large‑scale, high‑impact initiatives; extensive focus on developing technical, project management and leadership competence.
* Proven ability to identify and resolve issues; works in English‑speaking environment.
* Pro‑active approach to Health & Safety, including conducting Risk Assessments.
* Significant customer interface experience, ability to influence others and excellent interpersonal skills.
