ERM is seeking an experienced environmental professional to work exclusively with one of our major clients. This is a flexible engagement designed for individuals interested in fixed-term contracts or contingent/daily rate assignments, with immediate availability highly preferred.
Locations are across Scotland, with travel required between client sites.
The role will involve a blend of site and project office attendance, supporting activities such as regular site inspections and audits focused on contractor environmental and planning compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead on consents and licensing: Manage condition discharge, environmental licensing, and preparation of contract specifications to ensure timely project delivery.
2. Monitor compliance: Coordinate and oversee contractor and client environmental obligations, ensuring statutory compliance and alignment with sustainability ambitions.
3. Manage consultancy contracts: Scope, tender, award, and oversee multiple consultancy contracts for EnvCoW support services and post-planning surveys/assessments.
4. Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with consenting bodies, statutory authorities, and key consultees to support project decision-making.
5. Contractor collaboration: Develop positive working relationships with contractors and project teams to raise standards in environmental and regulatory performance.
6. Site inspections and audits: Conduct scheduled reviews to ensure compliance with environmental and planning consents.
What We’re Looking For
7. Proven project management experience, including consultant oversight, cost control, risk management, and delivery of major projects.
8. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to represent client interests, influence, and negotiate effectively.
9. Ideally, a degree in Environmental Studies (postgraduate qualification desirable) and relevant industry experience (infrastructure, consultancy, or national projects).
10. Membership of a professional environmental body is advantageous.
11. Hands-on construction site experience and contractor oversight.
12. Solid knowledge of ecology, hydrology, and peat management.
13. Understanding of the planning process and condition discharge.
