Band 3 Liver Services Waiting List Coordinator

An exciting opportunity for a Waiting List Coordinator within Liver Services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. This role provides focused administration support in booking major cancer surgery and benign surgical procedures, coordinating surgical activity and ensuring efficient scheduling for patient‑centred care.
Main duties of the job
* Contact patients to arrange and confirm surgery dates, ensuring clear, timely, and compassionate communication throughout the preoperative pathway.
* Validate and maintain surgical waiting lists, actively manage RTT pathways to meet national targets.
* Attend regular theatre planning meetings to support effective scheduling and optimal theatre utilisation.
* Manage the waiting list inbox, respond promptly to queries from patients and clinical teams.
* Book associated radiology procedures in addition to liver surgeries for coordinated care.
* Work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team and consultants to ensure surgery dates are booked appropriately and timely, in line with any outstanding investigations or clinical requirements.
Qualifications
* Good general education (e.g., GCSE English and Maths A‑C) GCSE Level 9‑4.
* Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in an administrative environment.
Experience
* Experience in public/customer service.
* Experience with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Experience using IT systems.
* Knowledge and experience of 18‑week RTT pathway.
* Experience working in a busy environment.
* Experience working in healthcare.
* Experience managing surgical waiting lists.
