The successful Senior Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for: Leading the structural design of steel frames, connections, and associated temporary works. Producing both manual and software-based structural calculations using a variety of tools. Managing projects independently or within a collaborative design team, reporting into the Head of Design. Attending client, architect, and subcontractor meetings to coordinate design requirements and resolve technical queries. Ensuring designs meet all relevant UK and European codes and standards, while staying within design budgets and deadlines. Supporting the training and development of Graduate Engineers and contributing to the continuous improvement of the department. The successful Senior Structural Design Engineer will need: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the structural steel industry, ideally within a UK-based fabrication environment. Proficiency in structural steel frame and connection design, with hands-on experience using software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Portal Designer, MasterSeries, S-Frame, Idea Statica, and cold rolled design packages. A relevant degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and ideally on the path to incorporated or chartered status. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and drive design coordination across stakeholders. Experience in temporary works design would be an advantage.
