The Position We are looking for an experienced ecological professional, interested in making meaningful environmental and social difference. The successful candidate will take a key role in leading ecological projects and providing advice to internal and external stakeholders on all ecological matters. The role can be divided into the following key responsibilities, but it is not limited to: Representing and promoting the Company's environmental standardsDelivering ecological services in line with customer needs and Company objectivesUndertaking ECoWs duties on development and land management projectsManaging applications for ecological & protected species licencesUndertaking and managing ecological surveys for habitats, birds, reptile and protected species, analysing and interpreting the subsequent resultsPreparing and reviewing of technical reports and ecological assessmentsManaging project budgets, timelines and resources effectivelyLiaising with internal and external stakeholders and providing guidance, ensuring projects adhere to best practices and comply with relevant policies and legal regulationsAdvising on environmental legislation, keeping key stakeholders informed of any changes, updating company policies and procedures as requiredUndertaking, supervising and training colleagues on PEAs, ECiAs and HRAs assessmentsSupporting existing forestry management and harvesting business streams on ecological related matters.Assisting in managing the Ecology business stream and maintaining a high standard of personal and environmental performancePlaying an acting role in maintaining and developing the Environmental management system to include internal updates and support with external audits Training and support will be provided to introduce the successful applicant to company systems and procedures. Qualification & Experience Essential Relevant academic qualifications in ecology, environment, land use or other related disciplineMembership of, or working towards, the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or equivalent professional body with professional code of conduct,CSCS CardBe a current protected species licence holder, preferably for bats, newts etcProven record of Ecological Clerk of Works experienceProven experience managing ecological projects from conception to completion; including procurement, budget control, managing other ecological disciplines and sub-contractors, programming work and meeting project objectivesProven experience of delivering and coordinating ecological surveys (habitats, protected species, birds, reptile)Understanding and experience in the application of UK environmental legislation and policy Desirable Experience in report writing (including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, management plans and Ecological Impact Assessments) and development of mitigation measuresExperience of forestry management and harvesting environment is desirableExperience in working in multi-disciplined teams, providing technical and non-technical advice Skills Proven business acumen, and a desire to support business developmentDiligent and professional in your approach to workSelf-motivated to deliver a high-quality service to clients and internal teamsStrong client relationship management skillsOrganisational, communication and planning skills - Motivational and negotiating skillsProficiency with IT systems, QGIS, mobile apps and other Office 365 appsClean, Full UK Drivers Licence and willingness to travel Benefits Competitive Salary20 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays)Annual leave increases with length of serviceCompany Holidays (3 days at Christmas)Company vehicle (business and private use)Pension schemeContinuous Professional DevelopmentCycle to work SchemeLong service awards To apply send your CV and Cover Letter to quoting reference EFLE/2504 Closing Date for applications is: 16TH May 2025 Start date will be as soon as possible after interviews (notice periods allowing).
