Supply SEND Support Assistant Location: Wakefield Contract: Full Time (Term Time Only) We are seeking a compassionate and adaptable Supply SEND Support Assistant to support children primary age in a pupil referral unit setting in the Wakefield area. In this vital role, you will work closely with pupils experiencing a variety of Special Educational Needs, including communication challenges, behavioural difficulties, and social or emotional needs, providing both individualized and small-group support. Key Responsibilities: Deliver focused one-to-one and group interventions to support pupils with SEND. Adapt and differentiate lesson materials to align with individual learning needs. Cultivate a warm, inclusive environment that boosts pupils’ confidence and engagement. Track pupil progress and participate in communication with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure consistency and continuity of support. We’re Looking for Someone Who: Has experience working with young people with SEND, ideally in educational or alternative provision settings. Demonstrates patience, empathy, and flexibility in working with diverse needs. Communicates clearly and works well within a team environment. Holds or is willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred). (Desirable) Possesses a Level 2 (or higher) TA qualification or equivalent experience. Team Teach is desirable, but not essential.
