We are looking for a passionate and highly skilled individual to support a small group of pupils in our Alternative Provision.
Required: for September 2026 or earlier
Salary Grade: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications
Hours: 32.5 hours per week post
Contract: initially fixed for a year
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm, term time only, including INSET days.
Start date: September 2026 or sooner if possible.
Closing date: Noon on Friday 5th June 2026
Interviews: Week commencing Monday 8th June 2026

Our Alternative Provision provides a small group of pupils with a bespoke specialist education within our mainstream school. The approach for each pupil is tailored to their needs and a broad curriculum is in place. Staff are trained to deliver specialist support including SALT and specific OT strategies.

About the role
To work as a special needs support assistant and as part of the Alternative Provision team under the direction of the Room Leader/Lead Teacher to provide safe, high quality education and care for a named young child or group of children.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they:
6. Have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs and strategies to support children
7. Are passionate about Special Needs Education
8. Are committed to the role and the school
9. Are organised, enthusiastic and highly motivated
10. Are able to provide creative, enriching and learning opportunities for the children
11. Have high standards of spoken and written English
12. Hold a full and relevant Level 3 qualification (unqualified applicants will not be considered)
