Overview
Freightliner is the UK’s largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, transporting containers from all major deep‑sea ports to the national network of inland terminals, and a leader in the UK Heavy Haul rail freight market. Freightliner also operates across Europe, providing Intermodal and Heavy Haul rail freight services that seamlessly link European countries and the UK. Key Responsibilities
* Manage the T&RS Competence Management and Audit activities for the Engineering team to support Freightliner’s ECM responsibilities and Safety Management System.
* Lead and direct the Freightliner T&RS Supplier Approval process.
* Lead the audit process and deliver the audit plan to enable compliance monitoring and process improvement.
* Ensure practical adherence of maintenance and overhaul activity to the documented process.
* Develop the annual audit plan and review audit outputs to establish a risk‑based approach for future plans.
* Lead the development and application of Freightliner’s competency assessment policy for traction & rolling stock staff.
* Develop and manage the Freightliner Supplier Assurance Policy for T&RS.
* Verify through surveillance, interview, site visit and audit that company engineering standards and statutory legislation are applied to Freightliner traction & rolling stock engineering assets.
* Review and develop engineering standards/policies, interpret them for Freightliner use and ensure alignment with applicable legislation, industry codes of practice and group standards.
* Lead and direct the Competence and Audit Engineers to deliver, review and update required standards.
* Perform other duties as directed by the Professional Head of T&RS Engineering.
Qualifications
* At least 5 years of broadly based experience in traction & rolling stock engineering.
* At least 3 years of supervisory or man‑management experience with the ability to make sound engineering decisions.
* Relevant qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
* Lead Assessor qualification (D32, A1 or equivalent).
* Lead Auditor qualification (e.g. LRQA).
* Personal Track Safety Certificate.
