Purpose of Role
Working within the National Robotarium Engineering team, we seek to appoint a competent, flexible and driven Lab Manager to oversee and organize the daily operations of the National Robotarium robotic laboratories.
Working with the Head of Robotics, the facility manager and the engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient and productive work environment for robotic development. This role involves maintaining our assets, organizing inventory, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, actively supporting the engineering team on electronic construction, troubleshooting and repair.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The post holder is required to:
1. Be responsible for the overall organization, setup and maintenance of the National Robotarium laboratory facilities
2. Provide training and assistance to the engineering team and our collaborators
3. Always maintain proper health and safety for users and visitors of the laboratory facilities
4. Be responsible for the physical condition (organization, neatness, safety) of all laboratories and workshops
5. Be responsible for inventory and repair/replacement of all equipment
6. Supervise technical support staff and students using the National Robotarium labs
7. Provide assistance to demonstrations for events
8. Provide assistance for electrical and electronic development
9. Research and provide recommendations for further improvements of the laboratory and equipment
10. Work within multi-disciplinary teams, sometimes more than one team at a time
11. Represent the National Robotarium within various forums
12. Work with other staff and clients
Essential & Desirable Criteria
Essential
13. MSc in Engineering or related fields with 3+ years of professional experience in lab support management
14. Experience of working in robotics or with electronic systems
15. Ability to work independently, in a team, and leading a team
16. Ability to research, analyse and present complex information effectively with good attention to detail
17. Ability to work quickly, flexibly and accurately in a dynamic and changing environment
18. Experience of working in collaborative projects and closely with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
19. Excellent written and oral presentation skills
20. Excellent interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills, able to understand and communicate complex issues effectively
21. Well-developed knowledge and understanding of relevant legal, statutory, Health and Safety, and governance applications and turning them into good practice
22. Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing as appropriate, and seeking help where needed
23. Demonstrated professional and proactive approach

24. Experience of working on development of analog and digital circuits and electronic systems, on development of embedded systems and with 3D printer equipment
