Overview
Telford based client has been established for almost 20 years and are recognised as leading providers of hardware and software design through to robot systems integration and commissioning on bespoke automation solutions for a diverse range of UK clients. They are seeking to recruit an experienced Automation Project Engineer to complement their Projects team.
Responsibilities
* Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and associated Controls layouts in line with FDS requirements, as well as Safety Matrix and Device List information.
* Develop automation solutions and support electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing; visit customer sites as required to ensure milestones and customer satisfaction.
* Produce technical documents using client requirements to industry standards, including diagrams and technical language; maintain responsibility for project gateway sign‑off for automation.
* Electrical design responsibilities including AutoCAD layouts and converting mechanical layouts into Control layouts; FAT, electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing.
* Manage all aspects of Resource Management for each assigned project; identify, budget, order and deliver materials on site to project schedule; create project documentation to satisfy CE/UKCA marking requirements.
* Provide weekly project updates on task status and ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation; support fellow team members and maintain strong communication at all levels.
* Able to work away as required and attend meetings at an associated facility in Nottingham; undertake additional training as required and work autonomously or as part of a team on site and in the workshop.
* Demonstrate scheduling, prioritization, budget management, task management and risk management; typically require at least 3 years of project management experience within a logistics automation environment with knowledge in electrical/PLC design and development, ideally from conveyor, robotics or automotive sectors.
Requirements
* Minimum 3 years of project management experience in a logistics automation environment with proven knowledge of electrical/PLC design and development.
* Experience from conveyor, robotics or automotive environments is preferred.
* Strong organisational and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to travel and work away as required; comfortable working at customer sites and associated facilities.
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to automation projects.
